Plainview Runners Score In Local Jaunt

Local runners had a strong showing at a recent run through the streets of Plainview.

The Greater Long Island Running Club held its 11th annual Heart & Sole 5 Kilometer Run on Sunday, July 20, with a near-record field of 531 runners and walkers completing the run — only 10 less than the record set last year. The run started on Radcliffe Road in Plainview and finished on the grounds of the Plainview-Old Bethpage Middle School.

The 5K was preceded by a fun run for the youngsters, with about 40 young runners completing a lap around the Middle School track.

Top local finishers were David Drebsky of Plainview, who scored in 19th place overall and third in the 30-34 age group, and Shari Klarfeld of Plainview, who was the third woman finisher and earned first place honors in the women’s 30-34 age group in a race that was staged only a few blocks from her home.
