Letter: Another Successful Lazy Day

Levittown Community Council recently celebrated its 17th annual Lazy Days of Summer event with a record turnout of participants. As chairperson of the event, it became even more apparent to me than in the past that events such as this, which attract crowds upward of 600 people, are never the success of one or two individuals. It takes cooperation by many people and businesses who donate money, goods, services and spare time to create, time and again, a remarkable event.

Supported by members’ dues and the generous donations of area businesses, Lazy Days of Summer, like all of the Council’s events, charges no fees. The top sponsors of the event this year were DeTolla & DeTolla Dental with a Gold sponsorship of the Bounce House; Astoria Bank which supported the Pirates Treasure Chest activity with a Silver sponsorship; and, Engel Construction whose Bronze sponsorship supported the Deejay.

Supporter sponsorships alphabetically in order of their contribution included: Deejay, Tim Aldridge; Donald Patane/Main Street Financial; WML Enterprises;  Joan Lynch of Long Island Center for

Independent Living; Nassau County Legislator Dennis Dunne Sr.; Domenico’s Pizza Restaurant; LevitStyle; Levittown Lanes; LuCas Communications; Little Gym; Long Island Hearing, Inc.; LSW Athletic Association; Associated Brokerage; Buon Gusto Restaurant; Carpets & Us; ChromeOrange Music Media; CMS Handyman Hands; Levittown Public Schools; Realty Advisors; SalV. Tartaglione, Architect, P. C;

TLS Weight Loss Solution; Distinctive Land Design; Killing Kompany and Law Offices of Jon Probstein.

Desserts were donated by BJ’s Wholesale Club, Best Yet Market, King Kullen, and Stop & Shop. Raffle prizes were provided by Chef’s Arsenal, Jane Finkelstein, Merry Maids and The O’Hara Family. Ye Pyrate Brotherhood entertained adults and children throughout the day and Curtis Riccio and MsMatch the Clown thrilled the children with creative balloon sculptures. Zumba instruction was provided by TLS Weight Loss Solutions.

All of this wouldn’t be possible without the volunteers that give their time in setting up the event, taking it down and running all of the activities for hours on end under a hot summer sun. Special recognition goes to Marianne Adrian, Mauro, Erin & Michael Cassano, Gary & Linda Crozier, Shannon Egan from Target, Maryann Harms, Ginny  Isola, Jessica & Jonathan Koenig, Carol Klein, Tom Kohlman, Glen Lachow, Michelle Lent, Tom & Mary Mawn, Pat McNerney, Don & Pat Patane, Mike Piedmont, Curtis Riccio, Matthew Rodriguez, Mary Kay Ross, Donna Ryan, Rich & Richie Traficanda, Leo Vanderburg, Alexa Vidal and Eleanor Walsh.
