For the past several years, the students of Island Trees Memorial have participated in the Jacob’s Light Foundation holiday card drive for soldiers. Founded by the mother of Jacob S. Fletcher, a Babylon native who lost his life in Iraq on Nov. 13, 2003, the Jacob’s Light Foundation gives soldiers the support they need to be a lifeline from America.
This year, students continued the tradition of creating holiday cards for those soldiers who would not be home for the holiday season. Each student’s card contained a personal message to a United States Armed Serviceperson.
Several of the students recently received letters back from United States servicemen and women who are stationed overseas.
