Hotter Than A Pepper Sprout
The Plainview library welcomes Hotter Than A Pepper Sprout with Nina Et Cetera at 8 p.m. in the auditorium. This fun and energetic band performs America’s music featuring songs of Johnny Cash, Elvis, the Carter Family, Patsy Cline, Peggy Lee, Ray Charles and many others. The Town of Oyster Bay Department of Community & Youth Services, co-sponsoring with the library, present this concert as part of CAPA’s Distinguished Artists Concert Series.
Make A Teapot
The Bethpage library invites children from kindergarten through fifth grade to join craft specialist Joanne Manning at 2 p.m. for a special event for Mother’s Day. Celebrate Mom and enjoy creating this terrific teapot. This unique project is made of foamcore and decorated with a variety of fancy materials. You will be amazed at the beauty of this masterpiece. There will be a $2 materials fee per child.
Walk For Victory
Join the Marfan Foundation for the Walk for Victory at Syosset-Woodbury Community Park at noon and help raise awareness and advance life-saving work. Join a team or make your own team and get ready for fun in the sun. Enjoy a mile-long walk with other affected families and friends celebrating with snacks, music and games. Registration between now and May 1 is $10; walk day registration is $20. To register, visit www.marfan.org. Registration fee covers entry fee, as well as all food and activities. Syosset-Woodbury Park is located at 7800 Jericho Turnpike.

Be Summer Ready
Atria Senior Living comes to the Plainview library at 10:30 a.m. to discuss senior spring nutrition in anticipation of summertime. Spring is the time to get ready for summer. Learn how to make healthy smoothies for any meal, plus tips on healthy eating, snacking and hydration during the summer months. Atria’s chef Justine Forte and nutritionist Jaimie Bornstein will demonstrate and explain the benefits of some delicious choices, which you can sample for yourself, then make at home. Event takes place in meeting room A/B.
History Of Memorial Day
Historian Bud Livingston returns to the Bethpage library to present the history of Memorial Day and how it is celebrated. There is plenty of history behind this holiday, even though it was not until 1971 that Memorial Day became an official federal holiday, marked by ceremonies held on the last Monday in May throughout the nation. Event is from 2 to 4 p.m. in the auditorium.
Movie: Unbroken
The Plainview library presents two showings, 2:30 and 7:30 p.m., of the film Unbroken. After a near-fatal plane crash in World War II, Olympian Louis Zamperini (Jack O’Connell) spends a harrowing 47 days in a raft with two fellow crewmen, until he is caught by the Japanese navy and sent to a POW camp. Based on a true story, this film also features Takamasa Ishihara and Domhnall Gleeson. 2 hours 17 minutes. Rated PG.

The Plainview library welcomes the Evergreen Trio, a tribute to the Rat Pack in the auditorium at 8 p.m. It was a time when going to Vegas was the in-thing, and the Rat Pack was the hippest, coolest bunch of cats on either coast. Performing your favorite songs of Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Jr., the Evergreen Trio will have you singing and swinging.

Movie: From Here To Eternity
The Plainview library presents two showings, 2:30 and 7:30 p.m. of the classic film From Here to Eternity to celebrate Frank Sinatra. This 1953 film, based on the novel of the same name by James Jones, deals with the tribulations of three soldiers, played by Burt Lancaster, Montgomery Clift and Frank Sinatra, stationed in Hawaii in the months leading up to the attack on Pearl Harbor. Deborah Kerr and Donna Reed portray the women in their lives. The film won eight Oscars, including Best Picture, Best Director and Supporting Acting awards for both Frank Sinatra and Donna Reed. 1 hour 58 minutes. Not Rated.

Lecture is at 2 p.m. in the auditorium.
