Abbey Lane Elementary School students in Levittown were entomologists as they studied the parts of insects during a workshop with the Long Island Children’s Museum.

During a discussion about creepy, crawly bugs, presenter Rebecca Figueras explained insect habitat and survival and demonstrated where the head, thorax and abdomen were located on most insects. Figueras even shared her walking stick, a common bug that resembles a stick.
After the lesson, the students worked with clay and other decorations to design and create their own bug, composed of the three insect parts.
