Kayte Spitler Dieterich

Kayte Spitler Dieterich of Clinton, CT and Westport, NY passed away on May 16, 2018. Kayte was born to Paul A. Spitler, Jr. and Stephanie C. Spitler in Oyster Bay on October 30, 1953. She grew up in Plandome and graduated from Manhasset High school and graduated from Ohio University in 1976 with a degree in Journalism. Kayte began her career in the broadcasting industry in New York City, and moved on to Chicago and Cleveland where she worked in both radio and television advertising. One of the highlights of her career was being the communications director for the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid, NY.

Kayte loved spending time with her family at her beloved cabin in the Adirondack Mountains in Westport, NY. She was also very active in breeding, raising and training Labrador Retrievers and Vizslas. Kayte’s grandfather was one of the founders of the Culinary Institute of America and instilled a love of fine food and wine in Kayte. Kayte was a member of the Chaine des Rotisseurs, the oldest gastronomic society in the world. Kayte was passionate about cooking and loved spending time in her gardens as well.

Kayte is survived by her loving husband, Sem Dieterich of Clinton, CT, her mother Stephanie Spitler of Clinton, CT, her brother Paul Spitler III and wife Janet of Shelburne, VT, her sister Elizabeth Spitler of Ferrisburg, VT, and her nephews Paul Spitler IV and Anthony Neri, Jr, and her niece Jacqueline Spitler.
