The Manhasset Women’s Coalition Against Breast Cancer has announced the date of its 22nd Ladies’ Night Out to support the fight against the dreaded disease.
President Barbara Kelly Vessa is excited to have Linda Gurino and Paula Chiarucci as chairwomen for this popular Manhasset event.
This year’s event will take place on Wednesday, Oct. 24, at Leonard’s of Great Neck.
Manhasset women are invited to support the coalition and celebrate their ongoing work in the fight against breast cancer.
Ladies Night Out is the coalition’s principal fundraising event of the year and a legion of volunteers generously gave their time and talents to make the night a success.
“We welcome your assistance,” said Vessa. “Your contribution of time and caring, no matter how small, changes lives. Please consider joining our cause.”
The coalition is a 501(c)(3) charity dedicated to the fight against breast cancer.
Since its founding, the coalition has awarded more than $4 million in grants to researchers in the field of breast cancer at many prominent institutions.

Earlier this summer, the coalition participated in the LI2Day Walk with a team and volunteers.
Team captain Monique Oliver gave a big shout out to the Manhasset team, thanking them for all they do to help those afflicted, as well as their families who are also in the fight of their lives.
“A big thank you to all our amazing volunteers at the LI2Day Walk on behalf of the Manhasset Women’s Coalition Against Breast Cancer (MWCABC). Team Manhasset couldn’t have done it without you,” said Oliver. “Thank you for your time and support. Without volunteers, the MWCABC wouldn’t receive a grant from the LI2Day, an organization that is committed to Long Islanders who are fighting breast cancer and other cancers. Without their grant, the MWCABC wouldn’t be able to help and assist so many in our own community fighting breast cancer.”
In 2017, Outreach helped with 120 breast cancer cases, 24 women with other cancers, delivered more than 30 meals in addition to groceries, and offered multiple nutrition consultations; provided transportation, wigs, financial support, household help and wellness services.
The non- and under-insured community was also helped through the MWCABC’s support of the Adelphi NY Statewide Breast Cancer Hotline & Support Program and Nassau University Medical Center. The Outreach Program is on the front lines providing help to the women in need here and now.
Last year the Outreach Program received $19,800, bringing the total received by the Outreach Program to $349,300 since 2005.
The coalition will also sponsor its annual 5K Run/Walk on Sunday, Oct. 21. All are welcome and encouraged to turn out for this annual event which unites the Manhasset community in the fight against breast cancer and related women’s cancers.
