Hicksville High School lacrosse player Brandon Lang has announced he has committed to Division II school Chestnut Hill College in Philadelphia. The attackman made the decision after visits with Delaware Valley, Dominican College and Mercy College. He felt like the Pennsylvania school treated him well during the visit.
“The head coach [Mike Terranova] is really friendly,” Lang said. “Everyone on the team is so nice and made me feel like I was part of their brotherhood as well.”
Lang got into lacrosse when his brother introduced him to the sport in second grade. Since then, it’s become a main focus in his life. In addition to playing the sport in school, he played on multiple travel teams during the summer seasons. But the Hicksville Comets varsity lacrosse team meant the most to him after being on the roster for all four years of his high school career.
“My favorite thing about the team is definitely my teammates,” said Lang. “All of them made me feel like I was part of their family. I feel like all of them have been great influences to me.”
Looking back on his career entering his final season with the team, one of Lang’s favorite memories is a game he played in his junior season when the Comets took on Baldwin High School. The final score was a 9-8 victory for Hicksville, but it was 7-6 Baldwin at one point in the fourth quarter.
“We came back to win against them. Doug Chase and I scored four goals to win,” said Lang. “We led the team to the win. It was real fun. It was in the rain too.”
In terms of what the future holds, Lang is just looking forward to what his collegiate career has in store. If he doesn’t land with a professional lacrosse team out of college, he is interested in pursuing criminal justice.
“Going pro is pretty hard, but I’m definitely looking for a successful career in the future,” said Lang. “I think Chestnut Hill will be a very good fit for me.”
As the senior takes a big step towards his future, Lang also looks back at his time in Hicksville fondly. He has plenty of people to be grateful for that have helped him get to the position he is at today.
“I would like to thank my family, friends, and the Hicksville lacrosse team and coaches,” Lang expressed. “I’m ready for the new adventure, but I’ll definitely miss everybody here.”
