First-grade students at Manorhaven Elementary School turned their 100th day of school celebration into a lesson in generosity, collecting over 200 non-perishable food items for the Our Lady of Fatima Food Pantry.

As part of their social studies curriculum on citizenship, students actively encouraged donations by creating posters and making morning announcements to inspire their classmates to give. What started as a goal to reach 100 items quickly doubled in size.

On Wednesday, March 26, students, teachers and parent volunteers walked together to deliver the food to the pantry, experiencing firsthand how teamwork and kindness can make a tangible impact. The initiative reinforced classroom lessons on community involvement and showed young students the power of collective action.
