The American Community Bank and the City of Glen Cove held a free Community Day event at Pascucci Field in Glen Cove on Friday evening, June 20, to celebrate upgrades to the facility.
Nearly 100 people, including Glen Cove Mayor Pamela Panzenbeck, attended the three-hour ceremony which featured volleyball, miniature golf, and cornhole games for kids and parents alike.
A new scoreboard was installed to commemorate Edward Capobianco and Anthony Cangero, two deceased family members of the bank.
Spiro Tsirkas, executive director of youth services and recreation, said this is the latest in a series of upgrades to the stadium.
“We added a multi-purpose court, which is a football/pickleball court. We redid the soccer field, we changed all the fencing, we made it more inviting to the public and to the community,” he said.
He also said the field has gotten security camera upgrades and was “excited” about these upgrades.
Tsirkas said the bank had donated more than $10,000 to install the new scoreboard, which was also celebrated with a ribbon cutting.
“We are happy with the way it has turned out now with the amount of work we’ve done in the last two years,” said Tsirkas.
Nassau County Minority Leader Delia Deriggi-Whitton thanked the bank on Facebook, noting a personal connection to the park.
“My father had the privilege of dedicating back in 1989 as Mayor of Glen Cove – it is a true community gem that just keeps getting better with each improvement,” Deriggi-Whitton said.

Pascucci Field is dedicated to Ernest Pascucci, a well-known Commissioner of Public Works and community service member.
