A new center offering job training and employment support for individuals with disabilities has officially opened in Brentwood, marking a major step toward inclusive workforce development on Long Island.

The nonprofit Family Residence and Essential Enterprises (FREE) held a ribbon-cutting ceremony on June 20 to celebrate the new Employment Services Center on Third Avenue. The event was attended by local officials, staff, and several clients who had benefited from FREE’s services.

We’re proud to celebrate the grand opening of our new Job Training & Placement Center at Adelante in Brentwood,” the organization shared in a post on social media. “It’s a space dedicated to creating opportunity and support for individuals with developmental disabilities.”

The center aims to serve people with intellectual, Developmental, and physical disabilities, as well as those with mental health conditions, substance use disorders, and traumatic brain injuries. These populations continue to face disproportionate barriers in the labor market. According to the US Department of Labor, people with disabilities have higher unemployment rates and lower earnings on average compared to those without disabilities.

The new Brentwood facility reflects the organization’s growing emphasis on employment as a key factor in long-term quality of life.
